This software offers you the possibility to access SAP datas out of applications like e.g. MS Office. In scope of supply are the ABAP accessing software, a Windows DLL and an example macro for Word for Windows. Using an input mask you can type in various criteria for searching in the SAP data base. The result can be displayed in two different kinds:

• complete adress for the adress window of your actual letter
• datafile for later creation of serial letters

JetForm Output Pack for SAP R/3

For many years JetForm developes form solutions, not only for printing. Using SAP own JetForm layout sets will be integrated, which basicly add attributes to the printing variables and send them to the server containing JetForm Central. There all datas will be united with the correct forms and printed, faxed or sent as E-Mail or archived.
Form creation via WYSIWYG is independable from printer languages and offers fast changing and adaptioning, if needed new value calculation and IF-THEN-ELSE manipulation outside of SAP.
Unfortunately that all has its price.

HP Advanced Volume Printing (AVP), also for SAP R/3

This product distributed by HP Germany analyses the data stream of a 'plain' ASCII printer (line printer). All informations were displayed and stored in a list of variables (data base) on a Windows NT pc containing AVP. Based on this variables word documents are generated, which are printed using the serial letter function via standart windows printer drivers. The benefit is the use of a standart product for designing forms, but unfortunately it is not easy to analyse all events in a data stream. Printing is, sometimes only unprepared, available at any time.
Although AVP prints every single print job via Word for Windows its page output is quite good (up to 200 pages per minute in test environments, specifications: 150 ppm per AVP server, AVP systems are all scaleable, means in theorie a volume without limits). This systems guarantees full control over the print preparing and the printing itself. Starting with SAP R/3 version 4.0 AVP is integrable via the new RDI (raw data interface). The trick is that extern programs can access to SAP raw datas and prepare them by themselves. For this interface which SAP want to place as an alternative to SAPScript it is possible to get certificated. AVP is the first (24.07.98) by SAP for the RDI certificated extern print preparing solution.
New installations in this time of R/3 are in the most cases version 4.0 installations. Using standing installations AVP can be controlled by an ASCII device typ via Idoc.
